Vodafone today announced that it has reached an agreement with Apple, that will allow the mobile phone company to offer the iPhone to it's customers. This follows our earlier report that Orange UK will soon be taking the iPhone exclusivity away from O2 by offering the iPhone to it's customers by the end of the year. What this means is that the UK has gone from having one iPhone operator to three, within the space of twenty-four hours.
Like Orange, Vodafone have remained tight lipped on the pricing for their iPhone tariff probably because, like Orange they don't want their competitors to gain any insight into their plans for the iPhone before it is released.
With three operators soon to be offering the iPhone in the UK, analysts are speculating that other sales deals could be cropping up across Europe's phone companies and this can't be anything but good for the consumer. One things for sure, with three operators soon to be offering the same product, two of which will start selling the iPhone around the same period, we will probably start to see a tariff war and fierce advertising to go with it.
