Nintendo have announced through their Japanese website that they will be releasing a new Nintendo DS console. The DSi LL features larger screens and improved battery life as part of it's main features. Don't be dismayed if you have only recently purchased the DSi that was released earlier this year; you aren't missing out on much as this console seems to be aimed at specific people. The two screens measure 4.2 inches and have an improved viewing angle. However the resolution of both screens appear to be the same as the original DSi.
Other features include a camera, internal memory, and a new stylus which as you can see from the picture is larger and more ergonomic looking. With a larger screen and an easier to use stylus Nintendo seem to be aiming this product at those with eyesight problems and or dexterity problems that many elderly people experience.
It is not clear if the new DSi will be coming to Europe or the US, but with Japan having one of the oldest populations in the world this new DSi could open the door for a new market on an ageing platform. The console will be on sale from November 21st 2009 for a price of 20,000 yen ($220, £133) and will be available in three different colours: Red Wine, Dark Brown and Natural White.
